How to reach us

Write to team@buymydeadstartup.com about anything on this page, including a request to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. For taking a listing down, listings@buymydeadstartup.com reaches the same people.

What this site is

A bulletin board. Companies that have stopped trading publish a written description of material they hold, and buyers contact them directly. We never receive, store or transmit the material described in a listing. There is no upload facility anywhere on this site, and no money passes through us.

What we store

If you submit a listing

  • The company name, country, sector, years of operation, peak headcount and funding stage.
  • Which kinds of material exist, and your free-text description of their scale.
  • A company contact email address.
  • An optional asking price and an optional date by which offers are requested.
  • Timestamps for submission, confirmation, publication and removal.

No individual's name is asked for, stored or published. A listing carries a company and a company address, nothing else. If you put a personal name into a free-text field, it will be stored as part of that text, so please do not.

If you sign up as a buyer

  • Your email address, and whether you are still subscribed.

Everyone

To stop automated abuse, the site counts requests per network address per hour. Your IP address is not stored: it is combined with a secret salt and turned into a one-way hash, which is what the counter is keyed on, and that record is deleted automatically within the hour. There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts. This site sets no cookies at all — not for tracking, not for anything, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss.

How long we keep it

  • A submission that is never confirmed is deleted automatically after seven days.
  • A removed or rejected listing is kept as a minimal record so that its removal link keeps working and the removal is auditable. We keep it until you ask us to delete it, which we will do on request.
  • Rate-limiting records expire within one hour.
  • A buyer address that unsubscribes is kept, marked unsubscribed, so it is not re-added by accident.

Removal

Every email we send about a listing contains a removal link. Opening it takes the listing down immediately. We do not ask why, and there is no confirmation step. You can also write to listings@buymydeadstartup.com and we will do it by hand.

Who else sees it

  • A published listing is visible to buyers on our list, who receive it by email. It includes the company contact address, because that is the point of the listing.
  • Hosting: Vercel Inc. — serves the site and runs its server-side code. The code that receives what you type runs in Frankfurt (fra1). Vercel's global edge network terminates the connection nearer to you and forwards the request there.
  • Database: Neon Inc. — stores the data listed above, in Frankfurt (eu-central-1), the same region the server-side code runs in.
  • Email: Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.), sending region Ireland (eu-west-1) — delivers our email. Resend holds account metadata and delivery logs in the United States.

We store and process on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a bulletin board that people ask to be listed on, and, where you have submitted a listing or asked for buyer access, in order to do the thing you asked for. There is no advertising or profiling to consent to.

All three providers are US companies engaged under their standard data processing terms. Processing is placed in the EU regions named above, and where data nonetheless reaches the United States — Resend's delivery logs, and provider support and billing systems — the transfer relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to our processing it. Write to team@buymydeadstartup.com and we will act on it. For a listing, the removal link in your email is faster than asking us and needs no reply from anyone.

You may also complain to a data protection authority. If you are in the EU, the European Data Protection Board lists the national authorities at edpb.europa.eu; in the UK it is the Information Commissioner's Office.

What we do not do

We do not host, index, copy, analyse or transmit the material any listing describes. We are not a broker, an auctioneer or an escrow. We do not value listings and we take no part in, and no fee from, anything agreed between a buyer and a seller.

Changes

Last updated 26 August 2026. If this page changes in a way that affects what we collect or how long we keep it, the date above changes with it, and we will say what changed. We have no way to notify you unless you are on the buyer list, in which case we would tell you by email.
